Lost in IT?

 Blog posts are not yet my day routines but in practice I do read them from others to read, learn and find specific topics about database issues. I started in the IT a long time ago when internet didn't exists, disks where huge, disks were physical platters and networking with coax cables.  Started on the old huge mainframe, the dinosaur called and switched later on to Unix/linux and databases. So the switch to learn Unix and Oracle in this case cost a lot of time. Mentoring was on the job by asking people who are experienced in this field. Later on other databases vendors and new technologies came up but during the years one become more experienced and oversee what the meaning of use case could be. Now, in the cloud era the typical DBA does not exists anymore. So the next switch is here to come. What I'm going to do, stay with the old typical DBA stuff or the new technology deep dive of the Cloud and all its facets? In the meantime, about 13 years ago, I switched also from a p
